Classics touring routes are marked on the IGN maps

Mountain guides are available and recommended where route finding or safety are an issue

Hut to hut routes are possible at certain times of the year though not every hut is open in winter

The Parc de la Vanoise offers spectacular touring and the Maurienne in general  is becoming something of a specialist touring destination
